What is the service for?
As the word suggests it is there for emergencies. This is different from going to your GP during normal opening hours.
You can call or come to the emergency out-of-hours GP service for medical care that really cannot wait until the next working day.
The reasons for doing so could be:
- shortness of breath which is worsening all the time;
- signs of paralysis;
- very severe pain;
- a seriously ill child.
If the situation is life-threatening, you should always call 112.
NB:
You should not contact us to order repeat prescriptions.
Prescriptions will only be issued in an emergency.
You will then be given enough medication to last you until the next working day when you should contact your own GP. After that you should order your regular repeat prescriptions from your own GP or pharmacy as normal.
